Stress is part of being human—no one can eliminate all stress from their life or prevent stress from ever occurring in the future. The key is to be able to manage stress in an effective way so you can bounce back from problems or challenges and maintain wellness
There are many strategies for coping with stress including exercise, time in nature, and mindfulness or meditation. Restorative Acupuncture is a gentle and effective strategy for restoring balance to your body and providing support for your valuable body systems under times of stress.
Dr. Joanna Sparrow, ND of NEX Wellness has combined her restorative yoga training with acupuncture to create a treatment geared towards stress relief and relaxation. Restorative yoga, as its name implies, brings recuperation and healing to the body. It has a profound calming effect on the nervous system helping to bring us out of the ongoing “flight or fight” pace of our lives. With Restorative Acupuncture an even deeper state of calm can be achieved while also targeting physical expressions of stress in the body.
During a Restorative Acupuncture treatment, the patient is supported with yoga bolsters, blocks, and blankets in a comfortable supine position. Then, Joanna inserts acupuncture needles based on her comprehensive assessment of the patient’s individual health needs and physical symptoms. Finally, Joanna leads the patient through a mindfulness exercise to create an even deeper sense of relaxation and calm.
Restorative Acupuncture can be an excellent addition to your current treatment program to help you manage the effects of stress on your body and improve symptoms such as:
- Headaches
- IBS
- Adrenal fatigue
- Difficult sleep
- Hot flashes, mood swings, and other symptoms of perimenopause
